Four generations on the same corner.
Oakley Lumber opened its doors on 42nd Avenue North in 1944, selling dimensional lumber to a Nashville rebuilding after the war. We've sold wood out of that same yard every year since. Different economy. Different trucks. Same family.
1944
A.C. Oakley opens the doors.
The first Oakley Lumber starts up in Nashville, selling framing lumber to a city rebuilding after the war. No computers. No forklifts. Lumber moved by hand and sold on a handshake.
1960s
Willard moves the yard to 42nd Avenue.
A.C.'s son Willard Oakley opens the contractor/builder lumber yard at 707 42nd Avenue North — the same address we still operate from today. Plywood, sheet goods, and specialty trim join the inventory.
1998
Daniel takes the counter.
Willard's grandson Daniel Oakley buys the company and runs it into the twenty-first century. Contractor accounts become the core of the business — nightly orders, morning deliveries, pros running the yard like their own warehouse.
Today
Brock & Desiree, together.
After Daniel's passing, Brock and Desiree Oakley continued the family business together. Same corner, same counter, same answer when you call: a fourth-generation Oakley who knows your job, your crew, and what you ordered last Tuesday.
